MINIMALLY INVASIVE LAPAROSCOPIC Myomectomy

A laparoscopic myomectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure in which your surgeon accesses and removes uterine fibroids through several small abdominal incisionsMany women choose to have a laparoscopic myomectomy over a traditional abdominal myomectomy because it requires fewer incisions, which reduces the risk of both blood loss and infection. Additionally, a laparoscopic myomectomy can be performed as an outpatient procedure, whereas a traditional abdominal myomectomy usually requires up to a 3-day stay in a hospital.

A laparoscopic myomectomy is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure lasts 1-3 hours.

Recovery: Patients are expected to experience swelling and discomfort in the area for 2-3 weeks. We use dissolvable sutures which means no sutures will need to be removed and scarring typically fades after about a month. Any strenuous activity should be avoided for 2-4 weeks after surgery and sexual activity should be avoided for 6-8 weeks after the surgery.
